Description
Britain's original Dinosaur Museum is a treat, especially for children. The museum combines fossils and skeletons with life-size dinosaur reconstructions. Hands-on, interactive and cinematic displays tell the story of the dinosaurs and their fascinating world millions of years ago. The life-size dinosaur reconstructions include a young T rex, Corythosaurus, Deinonychus and Triceratops - they beg to be touched by little hands, and that's encouraged. The Dinosaur Museum is situated in the centre of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, and only 7 miles from the Jurassic Coast. The museum was heralded as one of Britain’s Top Ten Child Friendly Museums in 2006 by the Daily Telegraph. Previously it has been chosen as one of Britain’s Top Ten Hands On Museums. Such hands on displays are the ‘feely box’ and ‘feel a fossil’ mean discovering about dinosaurs is fun, and the 'Dinosaur Discovery' Gallery upstairs is filled with even more interactive displays.
