The 'G-string man'
JACQUES LOUSSIER TRIO, featuring
Andre Arpino (drums) & Benoit Denoyer de Segonzac (bass)
"One can only marvel at the technical assurance
of Loussier's new group" – Sunday Times
Don't miss what could well be your only chance to see classical jazz legend
Jacques Loussier live! He brings his trio to the Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth,
in May for his only concert on the South coast and one of only four UK dates!
French pianist and composer Jacques Loussier became the first cross-over artiste
when he created the 'Jacques Loussier Play Bach Trio' over 40 years ago – an
amalgam of Bach's classic works with brilliant jazz improvisations. His most
famous recording is Bach's 'Air on a G String' which was used for the Hamlet
Cigars TV ads in the UK for over 35 years, earning him the nickname 'The
G-String Man'.
In 2004 BBC TV honoured Jacques with a 90 minute triple celebration – his 70th
year, the 40th year since his original 'Play Bach Trio' was formed, and the 20th
anniversary of his current trio. In December 2005 BBC Radio 3 transmitted two
programmes from a live UK concert, in May 2006 his concert for the Lufthansa
Festival of Baroque Music was broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and in September 2006 he
was a featured guest on 'In Tune' for BBC Radio 3.
Worldwide album sales exceed 6m copies, but in the 80's Jacques concentrated
mainly on writing for theatre and films, composing trumpet and violin concertos,
a mass and a ballet along the way. In the 90's he reformed his trio, which today
embraces the work of most known classical composers, and in 1996 he signed to
the American Telarc Records. Jacques' last seven albums have all been high in
the classical music charts, and recent releases are "Impressions on Chopin's
Nocturnes", "The Best of Play Bach", "Impressions of Mozart's Piano Concertos",
and the latest CD "Bach: The Brandeburgs".
In the past five years the immense interest in Jacques' music has seen a huge
upsurge in his concert and festival appearances. He is in a class of his own, a
fact realised by artistic planners, theatre managers and festival directors who
realise that the inclusion of the Loussier Trio in any calendar brings a
stimulating contrast – and a standing ovation.
Msr. Loussier's music is unique, is quite, quite exciting, and stands alongside
the very best of music in any genre.
Don't delay – book now to see this classical jazz genius live right here in
Bournemouth!
