George Benson Print
Friday, 04 July 2008
One of the music world’s greatest living legends, George Benson, is returning to the Bournemouth International Centre on 4th July.

George Benson has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, been awarded eight Grammys and also received The MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award, proving he is a true master of his art.

Throughout his career Benson has embraced everything from straight–ahead jazz to contemporary jazz and R&B/pop vocals.  He is one of a handful of artists who have achieved major critical and commercial success in different genres, and his pedigree makes him one of the most respected performers of the past 30 years.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pensylvania, Benson made his first appearance at the age of eight – singing, dancing and playing the ukelele – but by the age of 21 had firmly established himself as a reputable jazz guitarist.  His first taste of worldwide fame came in 1976 with the release of his album ‘Breezin’ which soared to number one in the US pop charts and from then on his career as a vocal artist went from strength to strength thanks to hits such as ‘The Greatest Love Of All’, ‘On Broadway’, ‘Give Me The Night’ and ‘Turn Your Love Around’
