An amateur production of the Mel Brooks taboo-busting show about a tasteless musical with a Nazi theme, starring a very camp Adolf and his Stormtroopers, heads to the Pavilion Theatre in June. The Producers has been a huge success all over the world - first as a movie in 1968 - won an Oscar - 2001 as a stage musical on Broadway, over 2500 performances - plus 12 Tony Awards.

A sell-out for 2 years in the West End, Theatre Royal, Drury Lane! The plot follows a clapped out Broadway producer who teams up with his starry-eyed Jewish accountant to create the most tasteless musical ever staged, and then pocket the investors cash when it folds on the first night. They are sure they'll have the ultimate flop when they unearth a Nazi romp (play) called 'Springtime for Hitler' and proceed to hire the worst possible cast. But then things start to go horribly right, the show turns out to be a hit.

The production includes: a Swedish ditzy blonde, little old ladies tap dancing with zimmer frames, a camp fancy dress contest, Jack Booted dollybirds and Tap-Dancing SS Storm Troopers, chucking out lines like: 'Don't be stupid - be a smarty - come and join the Nazi Party.'

This is a unique opportunity for BBLOC, as this is a first for the Pavilion and a first for the Bournemouth Area.
